The bar record

We read Robert Alden in the State Bar of Texas Find a Lawyer directory — the same register behind every Houston, Dallas and Austin listing on this site. The practice, school, fee and language rows are supplied by the lawyer; the Bar publishes them without verifying them, and prints in words where a lawyer has supplied nothing.

Texas answers, and asks more than anyone else. The State Bar prints No Public Disciplinary History as a sentence — not a blank like Washington, not a missing field like Pennsylvania. And it asks about eight things no other register on this site asks about at once: practice areas, law school, fee options, languages, other states, courts of admittance, firm size and services provided. Where a lawyer declines, it prints the refusal in wordsNone Reported By Attorney — so you can tell a question nobody asked from one nobody answered. One record in this city says that five times.

These nine were held once, and the hold is why this listing exists in the form it does. Nine Austin lawyers — this one among them — first reached us with an entry from austinbar.org, the Austin Bar Association’s find-a-lawyer: a voluntary membership directory with no disciplinary field of any kind. We did not publish them. The State Bar of Texas records have since been supplied, and the comparison settled the question: all nine read No Public Disciplinary History — the field the directory does not have — and on top of that, three of the nine licence dates in the directory were wrong and four addresses disagreed, with the regulator matching the lawyer’s own website on three of them. The wait produced a better record, not merely a slower one.

What the record shows

His courts of admittance begin with the United States Supreme Court, then the Fifth Circuit and all four Texas federal districts — six in total. No other record on this site lists the Supreme Court at all.Verified

His record carries a Recognition field reading Texas Bar College. No other record across two hundred and twenty-eight listings has that field populated — a reminder that a register can hold information you will never see unless you look at more than one entry.Verified

He is Board Certified in both Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Trial Law, the second of only two lawyers here holding both, alongside Ethan Shaw.Verified

He answers four of the five fee options — contingency, flat, hourly and sliding scale — and ADA-accessible client service: Yes. Only Jim Rodman answers more.Verified

His firm’s rideshare page cites Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code §16.003 for the two-year limitation period, and separately notes that in a wrongful-death claim the two years run from the date of death, not the date of the crash. That distinction is correct and almost nobody makes it. Confirmed live on 27 August 2026.Verified

We found three different phone numbers for this office across the State Bar record, the association directory and the firm’s own website. We print the register’s. We cannot tell you which reaches him fastest.Verified

What the firm says

His biography claims membership of several invitation-only trial advocacy organisations and an academic honour society. The register confirms the two board certifications and the Texas Bar College recognition; it says nothing about the rest, which are conferred by private bodies.Reported

The firm says it has practised in Austin for decades. His register puts his own admission at November 1987.Reported

This is the firm’s own marketing. It shows they hold themselves out as taking rideshare cases — it is not evidence that they have run one, and we have not verified any rideshare case they have handled.

What we haven’t checked

Not established. Which of the three published phone numbers is current. Every private-body membership on his biography, none of which a regulator confers or verifies. Case outcomes — we print no settlement or verdict figures. We have not reviewed court records for case outcomes, we print no settlement or verdict figures, and we have no basis for judging quality of representation. A bar check is a floor, not a ranking.
